Ballhawk League : Week 17
Our winner this week is another first time winner. It’s Joe Faraguna. Joe has been an apprentice of Zack Hample’s at several games this season, and it’s paying off. His ballhawking prowess has greatly increased from the beginning of the season. Here’s a picture of Joe, celebrating his first career ballhawk league victory outside of Nationals Park:
Youngster has solidified his lead over Erik Jabs. Erik has been out with severe back spasms all week, and has been looking over his shoulder as Alex has been creeping up on him in the standings.
- Nick Pelescak snagged his 150th career ball at PNC Park on Friday, courtesy of ex-Pirate Sean Burnett.
- Zack Hample had a fantastic day at Camden Yards, registering nine batted balls out of his ten total. Maybe we shouldn’t rule him out just yet as a triple crown contender (lead the league in hit, thrown, and device balls).
Witt snagged his 50th ball of the season.
- There wasn’t a lot of jockeying in the standings this week. Most notable was Chris P sneaking past Greg Barasch to break back into the top five.
- Ballhawk Shawn still hasn’t got his stats together from the past six weeks or so, but did manage to snag an Adam Dunn home run ball last week. Shawn is around 125-140 balls, so hopefully he finally gets caught up for week 18.

If you followed the raging debate in Ballhawk League Week 16′s comment section, you may remember John Witt bringing up his excellent hit ball ratio. I decided to break it down for everyone. A few simple equations and fill down were all that was needed to come up with this:
Percentage of total balls
Feel free to discuss, if you would like in the comments section.
Ballhawks were given the option to submit a photo for this and future
ballhawk league updates. The photos could be of them making a catch,
posing with a ball, a picture of a ball snagged, or something strange
or interesting that they saw at a game. Since we didn’t get a lot of submissions, I made some of my own.
Shawn got some face time last week, after snagging Adam Dunn’s home run ball in Milwaukee.
This poster surfaced outside of the Kansas City Royals stadium this week after Zack Hample snagged 32 balls there in one day last month. Zack also remains the target of everyone in the ballhawk league.
