well, the cooler bag isn’t completely gone…

Anyway, i saw the schedule recently too, and if that aluminum waterbottle is what i think it is, they would be pretty cool. I’m also really hoping it is a snuggie (fleecie).
-Evan
Evan,
If it is indeed a snuggie, that would make it one of the better giveaways in some time. I have enough of the fleece blankets. The fleece blankets were always too small for me anyway.
I am so happy to see McCutchen doing well in PA, I watched him in Indy AAA and loved watching him.

Cob,
I think McCutchen will continue to do well in the future. The Pirates are building their promotions around him already. After seeing him play last summer, I think its safe to say he’s the real deal.
Word is he may drop in the order to #3 now that the Pirates have Iwamura as a possible leadoff man. That would mean more RBI’s for ‘Cutch.
Erik, a couple questions/comments:
1) what’s the difference between fireworks and Skyblast?
2) any idea who the bands are? I was gonna come out last Sept. 25-26 for the band — foreigner? — they should get journey or whoever it was that did “Eye of the Tiger” that would be worth the trip from eastern PA.
3) did they show the Clemente bust? its pretty interesting.
4) At first glance, I thought you won a suite with $500 food — that would have been nice.
5) I’m looking forward to getting back out to PNC Park in ’10 after missing it in ’09. I’ll keep an eye out for you if we do make it out.

Todd,
That’d be cool if you made it out to PA.
1) Fireworks is just that, a 10-15 minute fireworks show that begins shortly at the conclusion of the game. Fireworks are set off of a barge on the Allegheny River. Skyblast is a 70 minute production that involves a live band and Fireworks set off from barges, the Clemente bridge, the scoreboard, the field, and atop skyscrapers in downtown. The skyblast series always is one of our 4 sellouts during the year.
2) The bands typically aren’t revealed until closer to spring training, but are commonly “B” list bands. Past bands to play Skyblast of have post game concerts have been KC and the Sunshine Band, Styx, Foreigner, Smash Mouth, Big & Rich, Jo Dee Messina, Zac Brown Band, O.A.R., etc.
3) Haven’t seen the Clemente bust yet, but it should make a nice collectible.
4) I wish. That would’ve been awesome.
5) If you need someone to get you into batting practice with season ticket holders, let me know
-Erik
Im a season ticket holder too and im happy that the team thought outside the box for promos this year. One thing I was wondering however is do you have any idea what a photo wrap is? Always a pleasure reading this. See you in the bleachers April 5th.

Steve,
I have no idea what a photo wrap is. We’ll find out at Piratefest though, as there is always a display with all of the upcoming year’s promotional items.
The Fleecie is a Snuggie by the way. The Reds are giving away the same thing, and they describe it in their promotional schedule as a ‘Fleece Blanket’ with sleeves.
