@TheCUTCH22 Shirt Giveaway

You, the readers of this blog and have voted for this week’s giveaway to be a Pittsburgh Pirates shirt.

If you’re new to this blog, welcome.

So far this year I’ve given away a Matt Wieters shirt to Joey Orr,
a Brandon Phillips shirt to Matt Jackson,
a Dustin Pedroia shirt to Stephen D,
a Phillies shirt to Connor,
a Dodgers shirt to Matt Jackson,
a Ryan Zimmerman shirt to Big Brown Fox
a Nick Markakis shirt to NYBisons,
a CC Sabathia shirt to TeenRedsFan
a 2012 Pirates Wall Calendar to Philadelphia45
a Brewers shirt to NYBisons
and a this David Wrigh shirt to Howie

This week’s shirt will feature the Pirates best player and face of the franchise, Andrew McCutchen.

Throughout the 2011 season, the Pirates gave away t-shirts to their fans on Fridays.  One of those shirts was an Andrew McCutchen shirt.  Luckily, I just happened to get about 30 of that shirt.  (I have 243 tickets and attended 60+games at PNC Park, that left a lot of tickets for exchanges!)

Here’s the shirt I’m giving away:

Cool design huh?

Here’s the shirt in it’s entirety.

I didn’t bother taking a picture of the back, but there’s an ad about the size of a dollar bill for some pizza joint.  Figures.  Oh well, its still a great shirt right?

It’s never been worn.  I pulled it off the shelf of brand new, never worn shirts.

The shirt is an XL, but wears small.  By that I mean, after a couple of washes it will fit you just like a large would.

So how do you win this shirt?  It’s easy.

I post blog entries every day.  In fact, I’ve posted about 64 consecutive days now or something like that.

All you have to do to enter this contest is leave a comment or retweet my blog link on twitter.

So, again,  to enter:
1)  Leave a comment.
You can enter up to seven times per week simply by leaving a comment.  Non-pertinent, spam, or inappropriate comments will not be accepted.  If you comment multiple times on the same blog entry, it still counts as one entry.  For example, if you commented on three different blog posts from this week, you’d have three entries.  If you’d comment three times on the same blog posting, it would could as one.

2)  Retweet (RT) my posts on Twitter
You can find me on twitter under 333greystreet.  Simply retweet my daily posts of my blog link each day and I’ll count that as an entry.  My blog is connected to my twitter so that I automatically tweet once I post a new entry.  Each day, I’ll search who’s retweeted me and enter those users into a hat along with the commenters.  By the way, you do not need to retweet my every tweet, only the tweets that announce a new blog post and url.  For example, if I tweeted, ‘I’m going to bed,’ and you retweeted it, it wouldn’t count as an entry, only RT with blog links count.

By the way, Cutch has a twitter account.  Maybe he could retweet this link so that Bucco Nation can get their chance to win a shirt?

Anyhow, at the end of the week on Sunday, I’ll have Olivia, Amy or myself choose a name from a hat and announce the winner, or I’ll think of some crazy contest.  Yesterday’s David Wright winner, Aaron Howie won thanks to his retweet.

Anyhow,
How does everyone feel about the Pirates chances this year?  I had them an 81-81 in my Pirates preview, but the division is weakened and wide open.  The Reds?  They just lost their closer for the entire season.  The Cardinals?  No more Albert Pujols and Chris Carpenter’s season is in jeopardy – plus he’s 37 and threw 275 innings last year.  The Brewers?  No more Prince Fielder to protect Ryan Braun.  The Cubs?  Please.  Some loon reamed me out because I had the Cubs in 5th in my Central preview.  Even they may be worse than last year after losing Carlos Pena and Aramis Ramirez.  The Astros?  No chance.

This could be the Pirates year.

Andrew McCutchen will be a big part of their year.  He likely will be an All Star again with his skill set.

He recently signed a $51.5 million contract for six years, so he now longer has to worry about his contract status.  He can relax and enjoy the game.  Expect big numbers from Cutch this year.

I’m thinking .304-25-88 with 32 stolen bases thrown in for #22.

How about you?  What do you think?  How will the Pirates fare in 2012?  What about Cutch?

Leave a comment and throw your hat in the ring for the shirt!

Also, there’s only 10 more days until Opening Day!  Tomorrow we’ll be in single digits!

McCutchen is a great player. I hope I win!

McCutchen is my favorite Pirates player! I hope i win this week given how close I have come in the last 2 weeks!

Hope I get this one!
Also, win a hat plus hear an interview with Phillies prospect Tyson Gillies on my blog.

Nice choice for McCutchen. I remember coming to one of his first games back in 2009 not too long after he had been called up.

Nice!
Hope I win

Like you said it could be their year this year but I don’t think that they are there yet.

more then ready for opening day.

Not to answer a question with a question, but Erik, what are your realistic expectations for the Pirates this year?

Best Shirt give away yet! Love reading your blogs! Check in everyday

Stephen,
The past 20 years would suggest a record of 74 wins or so, but I’m sticking with 81-81. The losing streak stops in 2012!

Our ship is coming in this year with cutch going 30/30 this year and don’t put me in the contest this week I already have that shirt.

Lets Go Bucs.

I’m thinking that it is likely that the Pirates will be right around .500 for the year.

Hope I win!!!!!

I am in no way a Pittsburgh fan, but the hate has gone too far on their pitching staff. A lot of guys who can go 6-7 innings competitively this year, and an offense and defense that can play, I think 81-81 is closer to the floor rather than the ceiling. Given the weakened division, I think 86-88 wins is not out of the question–and that win total might be enough to overcome the Reds, Cardinals, and Brewers, or at least hang around for most of the summer with them. Should be an enjoyable year!

Kurt, I think some people think I’m nuts for predicting 81 so I hope you’re right. 88 wins would likely win this division.
